Located at the prestigious University of Denver Lamont School of Music, Tamminga Music Studio offers Denver guitar lessons and Denver guitar classes for all ages and skill levels. Our teachers are accomplished performers and experienced teachers who will challenge you to excel and grow as a musician, but also have lots of FUN!

Denver CO Guitar Classes
Preparatory Guitar I & II
Preparatory Guitar I: Any student may join. Denver guitar lesson students will be grouped according to age and ability.
Preparatory Guitar II: Student must successfully complete level 1 in order to enroll in the level 2 class. If your child is a new non-beginner, teacher approval is required.
This is no ordinary guitar class! Our unique curriculum offers…
- Training in acoustic & electric guitar
- Focus on the fundamentals of music
- Proper technique that builds finger dexterity for guitar playing and strengthens fingers
- Rhythm proficiency through strum patterns and rhythm games - (Preparatory Guitar II students will start to explore finger picking rhythms and intermediate techniques.)
- Weekly theory activities that focus on intervals and chord analysis
- Ear training to lay the foundation for learning to figure out songs on your own
- Introductory improvisation - (Preparatory Guitar II students will learn the basics of soloing and lead guitar playing.)

Denver CO Guitar Lessons
Semi-Private & Private Denver Guitar Lessons - Tamminga Music Studio provides semi-private (no more than 3 students) and private guitar lessons to students in the Denver area. Objectives are carefully developed according to each student’s age, ability, and interests. The environment is fun and positive to encourage creativity and achievement.
Expert Guitar Instruction - We place emphasis on ear training along with sight-reading and rhythm proficiency. Students are exposed to music history and composition, and theory is taught at each lesson. Specialized attention is given to individual goals. We teach with Fred Noad's Solo Guitar Playing book as well as Fernando Sor, Mateo Carcassi, and Dionisio Aguado etudes.
Build Confidence & Self Esteem - Motivational contests are held within the studio including our unique Music Money incentive program. We incorporate music parties each semester for fun, food, learning, and performances! Our Annual Studio Recital & Awards Ceremony are amoung several year-round events including festivals, competitions, and community events.
